Deeter recently received the sad news of the death of her uncle, Henry Ware, at his home, 511 Palmyra Avenue, Dixon, Ill., at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 20 days. Mr. Ware was born in Allegheny Township, Somerset County, Pa., near Mt. Zion Church, and was the last survivor of a large family of brothers and sisters. He was also one of the last survivors of Dixon (Ill.) Post, Grand Army of the Republic. He spent his youth and early manhood in his native township and at the outbreak of the Civil War enlisted in the 142nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, in which he served until the end of the great conflict. Soon after the close of the war he went West and in 1867 located in Taylor Township, Ogle County, Illinois, near Franklin Grove, where he engaged in farming. Later he moved into Nachusa Township, Lee County, Ill. where he continued farming until about 27 years ago when he moved into Dixon and had since lived there retired. His wife died about 18 years ago. Surviving him are one daughter, Miss Ida, who kept house for him after the death of her mother; four sons, Ira, Charles, William H. and Frank, all of Dixon, Ill., five grandchildren and many more distant relatives.
