College Ave., Frostburg, Md., died June 21, 2002, at home following a long battle with cancer. Born Nov. 2, 1930 in Pocahontas, she was the daughter of the late James and Loretta (Crowe) Baker. In addition to parents, preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur, Frank, Floyd, Albert and Paul Baker, and three sisters, Eliza Baker, Minnie Zearfoss and Josephine Miller. Survived by three sons, Keith Warne and wife Ellie, Dover, Del., Kenneth Warne and special friend Rev. Msgr. Michael K. Carroll, Basye, Va., and Stephen Warne and girlfriend Cindy Dugan, Frostburg, Md.; daughter, Tina Anderson and husband Bill, Frostburg, Md.; a very special friend, Frank Simpson, Lonaconing, Md.; two granddaughters Amy Fike and fiance Jai Mastro, Avon, N.C., and Kelly Warne, Dover, Del.; two grandsons, Brian Fike and wife Marion, Georgia, and Kevin Warne, Dover, Del.; one step-grandson, Josh Anderson, Va.; five sisters, Katherine Baker, Del., Loretta Gracie and husband Richard, Frostburg, Md., Dorothy Llewellyn, Union Bridge, Md., Elva Watkins, Frostburg, Md. and Ruth Holt, Meyersdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired from Snyder Potatoes of Berlin. Member of St. Michael's, Catholic Church, Frostburg SCAMPS, Frostburg Senior Citizens, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Seniors Sunday night bowling league, all of Frostburg. She traveled to compete and win in the Senior Olympics. She was a kind and giving person who lived for her family. She loved to dance and have fun. Friends were received Sunday and will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., where the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary memorial service was held Sunday evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. William Moody as celebrant, and Rev. Msgr. Michael Carroll as concelebrant. Interment, Frostburg Memorial Park. A reception will be held at the Gunter Hotel, 11 W. Main St., Frostburg, Md., following the Interment. The family requests memorials be directed to Home Hospice Services, c/o Linda Valentine, Nurse Mgr., 9211 Seton Drive, Cumberland, Md. 21502, in memory of Mabel.
