She was born on Sept. 1, 1910 in Westmoreland County, Pa. to Naomi and Joseph Jones. She graduated from Somerset High School in 1930. She graduated first in her class in 1935. She attended Ohio State University. Later she returned to New Brunswick, N.J. and worked as a nursing supervisor until 1939, when she accepted a position at Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. She received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. She taught medical and nursing students anatomy and physiology in Grand Rapids until her retirement in 1975. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Kenny and husband Michael of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Gale Lybrook Kenny of Evanston, Ill., and Elizabeth Anne Kenny of Boulder, Colo., and two sisters, Hilda Kauten of Frankfort, Ind. and Hazel Garlitz of Somerset.
