Watkins, 84, of Garrett, died Jan. 30, 2004, at Patriot Manor, Somerset. Born Feb. 15, 1919 in Brothersvalley Township, the son of Ralph and Lucy (Hoffman) Watkins. Preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Sara Jane and a sister Dorothy Coslic. Survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Mildred Strong; son Jeffrey and his wife, Linda, Phoenix, Ariz.; stepsons Jack Berkley, Somerset and Jerry Berkley, Texas; two grandchildren; brothers Earl and Roy Watkins, both of Berlin; and a sister Helen Omerzo, Winter Haven, Fla. He was a retired printer from W.A. Kruger, Phoenix, Ariz. Member of the Beachdale Church of the Brethren. Army veteran of World War II. Member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 7295 and member of the American Legion Harry Fisher Post 445, both of Berlin. Former member of Valley Grange 878 and the Berlin Sportsman. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Larry Black officiating.
