  John A. Watkins, 65, Somerset, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at Somerset
  Hospital. 
  He was born May 1, 1940, in Berlin, the son of Thomas and Ruth (Golby) Watkins. 
  He was preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Dorothy Hay; and two
  infant brothers. 
  He is survived by a son, John T., married to the former Vickie Whipkey, Berlin;
  grandchildren, Thomas John "T.J." and Hannah Watkins; and an Aunt Olive Golby,
  Berlin. 
  A 1958 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School; retired Pa. State Police
  trooper, and former Somerset County Sheriff. He was a member of Somerset Church
  of the Brethren, and Meyersdale Lodge 554 F&AM. 
  Friends were received from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Deaner
  Funeral Home, Berlin. The Rev. Mark Bendes officiating. Interment Berlin IOOF
  Cemetery. 
  In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Somerset Church of the
  Brethren Building Fund, P.O. Box 347, Somerset, PA 15501, or American Heart
  Association, 400 Luray Ave., Johnstown, PA 15904.
