She was the daughter of Levi W. and Sarah (Thomas) Weakland, and was born in Fellowsville, W.Va. Surviving are four brothers: Francis Weakland, San Diego, Calif., William Weakland, Charleston, W.Va., John and Joseph Weakland, living at home, the latter being postmaster of Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning in SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, with celebration of High Mass, by Rev. Father Howard Miller. Due to the severe snow storm making it impossible to prepare the grave, interment in the Catholic cemetery was postponed a few days. Arrangements were in charge of R. Reich & Son, morticians. Miss Stella was a faithful member of her church. She belonged to the Altar Guild for many years and was one of its past presidents. She devoted her life principally to the family, remaining in the home to help and care for her mother, and since the latter's death about ten years ago, keeping the home for her brothers, John and Joseph, who also remained at home. A deep devotion existed between these brothers and their sister. Though Miss Weakland lived a more or less retired life she kept abreast of the times, being a great reader, and was always an interesting conversationalist. She was a member of the Woman's Club, taking special interest in the Book Review Section of which she served capably as chairman for one year. William Weakland, with his sons, John and William, and the latter's wife, all of West Virginia, attended the funeral. Meyersdale Republican, March 5, 1942
