Weakland, aged 87 years, 6 months and 28 days, widow of Levi W. Weakland, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9th, at 12:20 a.m. at her home, 209 Meyers Avenue, following a stroke of paralysis. She had been bedfast since last May. Mrs. Weakland, nee Thomas, was born July 12, 1844, at Loretto, Pa., Cambria County, and was a resident of Meyersdale for 38 years. Her husband passed away here in 1926. They were married in November 1865, and lived in Confluence for twenty years and in Cumberland, Md., five years before locating in Meyersdale in 1896. Surviving are these children: Francis L., San Diego, Cal.; William J. of Charleston, W.Va.; John S., Joseph G., and Stella, members of her household at the time of her death. She has one surviving sister, Susan Thomas, of Loretto. Five children preceded her in death. She was a life-long member of the Catholic church and unflagging in her devotion to its institutions. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with solemn high requiem mass celebrated by her pastor, Very Rev. Father J. J. Brady, in SS. Philip and James Church, assisted by Rev. Howard Miller, of West Salisbury, deacon, Rev. John P. Manley, of Somerset, sub-deacon, and Rev. F. P. Corcorah of Lilly, Pa., mastor [sic] of ceremonies. Interment was made in the church cemetery with Undertakers J. F. Reich & Son in charge of the funeral arrangements. Meyersdale Republican, February 11, 1932
