Savage, Route 1, Md., died Sunday, Feb, 3, 1985, at the Frostburg Community Hospital. Born in Glen Savage, Pa., May 31, 1924, the son of Mrs. Pauline (Reschke) Weidner of Evans City, Pa., and the late Henry Weidner. A retired truck tire builder for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. and had served in the European Theater during World War II as a PFC in the U.S Army, during which he received four star citations for participation in major European battles. Member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Cumberland and a member of the Mt. Savage VFW Old Rail Post #6025, and a member of the Barrellville Outdoor Club. He is survived by wife, the former Lenora Adkins; two sons: Robert N. Weidner of University Park, Md.; and David L. Weidner of Simi Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren: Geoffrey, Valerie, Laura, Kyle and Emily Weidner; four brothers: Samuel of Somerset, Vernon of Rochester, Mich.; Donald of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and Glendon of Richmond, Mich.; two sisters: Mrs. Martha Varner, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; and Mrs. Evelyn Shaulis of Butler. Preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Paul. Visitation will be at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., Tuesday 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 328 N. Center St., Cumberland, at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Walter V. Roe officiating. Graveside military services will be provided by the VFW Old Rail Post #6025. Daily American, February 5, 1985 [W0642]
