Weimer, on Sunday morning about 9 o'clock, marked the passing of one of Meyersdale's oldest and best known citizens. Death resulted from a heart attack, though he had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Weimer, who had been a familiar figure on lower Broadway, where he had resided for many years, was aged 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. He was born in Greenville Township, but for more than half a century was a resident of Meyersdale. During the earlier years of his life, and in fact until incapacitated by reasons of his ailments, Mr. Weimer was interested in civic affairs, having served efficiently for many years either as judge, inspector or clerk on the election board in district No. 1, and may be said to have been one of the town's most highly esteemed and substantial citizens. Mr. Weimer was a life-long member of the Reformed Church, and during his residence in Meyersdale was an active and consistent member of Amity congregation. He was also a member of Pioneer Lodge, No. 471, Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Brant Weimer, and the following children: John M. and Charles W. Weimer, of Meyersdale; Allen Weimer, in the service of the United States Navy, at present stationed somewhere off the coast of California; Mrs. John Glessner, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Harry Blades, of Cumberland. Surviving are one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Henry Sipple and Harvey H. and Wilson Weimer, all of Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the late home of the deceased, Rev. Dr. Blanchard Allen Black, pastor of Amity Reformed Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Reformed Cemetery, under the direction of Undertaker Joseph L. Tressler. Meyersdale Republican, September 29, 1932
