WEIMER, William J.

William J. Weimer, 73, Somerset, passed on June 4, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. 
Born Feb. 8, 1935, in Somerset Township, he is the son of the late Earl and Mary 
Grace (Knepper) Weimer. He is also preceded in death by his infant brother, 
George. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Arlene (Francis) Weimer; 
children, Lee Ann Diekemper and husband, Ralph, Harrisburg; Stephen Weimer and 
wife, Diane, Somerset; Lori McNelly and fiancee, John Hoover, Somerset; Mark 
Weimer and wife, Laura, Somerset; and William J. Weimer Jr., Arlington, Va.; 
grandchildren, Shannon McNelly, Danielle Diekemper, and Nathan, Sean, Maria, and 
Allie Weimer; sisters, Ann Burns, Erie; and Helen Lear, Somerset; brothers, Jay 
Weimer, Somerset; Dave Weimer and wife, Judy, Somerset; Fred Weimer and wife, 
Nancy, Irwin; and Joseph Weimer and wife, Sue, Somerset; and many nieces and 
nephews. He was a 1953 graduate of Somerset Area High School and a veteran of 
the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of Columbia Gas and was a life member 
of Samuels Lutheran Church. He was an avid HAM radio operator and enjoyed 
gardening and spending time at home with his family. Friends will be received 
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A service 
will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Samuels Lutheran Church. The Rev. Will Osman 
officiating. Interment at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be 
sent to Samuels Lutheran Church at P.O. Box 126, Rockwood, PA 15557.
