All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ EMMA EVANS WEISE Mrs. Emma Evans Weise, wife of Calvin Weise of Salisbury, died at her home at five o'clock a.m., Oct. 13, 1940, at the age of 55 years, 4 months and 13 days. Her death was caused by a heart disease, from which she had suffered at intervals during a year or more. She was born and reared in Elk Lick Township, and was a daughter of the late Alexander Speicher, who also was a resident of the same township for many years. She and her husband located in Salisbury about 20 years ago. Mrs. Weise is survived by her husband and two sons, Robert of Grantsville, Md., and Ellis of Westernport, Md. She is also survived by one grandchild at Grantsville, and by two sisters, Miss Vinnie Speicher of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Amanda Engle of Vandergrift, Pa. She was a faithful member of the St. Paul congregation of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, in the township where she was born and reared. Mrs. Weise was a devoted wife and mother, and was held in high esteem by her numerous friends in Salisbury and Elk Lick Township. She was a home maker in every sense of the word, and will be greatly missed by her husband, children, and neighbors. The funeral service was held at the Weise residence, South Grant Street, at four o'clock Tuesday afternoon, and was conducted by Rev. A. M. Wright, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Salisbury. The burial arrangement was in charge of Salisbury's mortician, Stanley M. Thomas, and interment was in the St. Paul cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, October 17, 1940
