Weise died at his home in Altoona on Thursday, September 9 at 6 a.m. after an illness of four months. He had been in failing health for several years and was bedfast about three weeks. He was born in Lock Haven on December 30, 1875, son of Gottlieb and Mary (Shoemaker) Weise. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons and one daughter; Walter D. of Salisbury, Lester M. of Duncansville and Wesley, Carl and Robert S., and Mrs. Charles W. McKinley of Altoona; one brother, Clarence of New York City; two sisters; Rena of Williamsport and Mrs. Mary Bittner of Avis; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was secretary of the three organizations of which he was a member; the Retired Men's Association of the Pennsylvania Railroad, having retired in 1941; of the Knights of Pythias and the Patriotic Order of Sons of America. Funeral services were conducted in the First Baptist Church in Altoona, of which he was an active member, with Dr. S. Carey Thomas and Dr. E. H. Simpson, pastor and assistant pastor, officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery in charge of Laughlin and Laughlin, funeral directors. Meyersdale Republican, September 16, 1948
