Welsh, 64, proprietor of the Somerset News Agency, died at 5:30 o'clock last Friday evening at his home in Somerset. He had been bedfast since he suffered a heart attack while at work earlier in the week. He operated a news agency in Rochester, Pa., before locating in Somerset in 1912, when he purchased the Somerset News Agency. He was born in Rochester, March 8, 1881. Mr. Welsh was a charter member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset. He was active in politics and last June won the Democratic nomination for prothonotary at the primary election. Surviving are his wife and six children - Mrs. Elmer Ryan, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. John T. Lyons, Brookline, Mass.; Margaret and Jean, at home; Lt. Richard, serving with the AAF, and Charles, seaman first class in the South Pacific. Seaman Welsh, formerly was employed on the editorial staff of the Somerset American and Johnstown Democrat. At the time of entering service, he was working for the Associated Press in Philadelphia. Five grandchildren also are left by Charles A. Welsh, Sr. Meyersdale Republican, August 30, 1945
