Wengerd at Berlin, Ohio on Monday, January 12, of a heart condition. She was ill but one hour before she passed away. Mrs. Wengerd was a resident of Elk Lick Township from 1918 to June, 1945, when she went to live with her son Allen, in Ohio, after the death of her son, John S. Wengerd. Mrs. Wengerd was born in Mechanic Township, Holmes County, Ohio, on December 11, 1869, daughter of John and Magdalena (Miller) Shetler, and was 78 years, 1 month and 1 day in age at her passing. She was married to Stephen M. Wengerd, who died on April 6, 1931. She was a life-long member of the Conservative Amish Mennonite Church. In addition to her son, John, a second son, Elmer, preceded her to the grave. She is survived by two sons, Allen S. Wengerd, head of the A. S. Wengerd Slate Company of Millersburg, Ohio, and Levi Wengerd of Somerset, and by 11 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, in the Conservative Amish Church near Bunker Hill, Holmes County, Ohio. Additional rites were held on Friday at 10:00 a.m., in the Oakdale Conservative Church near St. Paul. Interment in the Oakdale Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, January 22, 1948
