Savage, Md., died Feb. 6, 1974, at his residence, after having been in failing health for the past six months. Born in Pocahontas, he was a son of the late William and Gertrude (Baer) Werner. He was a retired employe of the Mt. Savage Refractory Company, was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, its Holy Name Society and was a member of Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are his wife, the former Sarah A. Pratt; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Stein, Rockville, Md.; Mrs. Marleen Martirano, Frostburg; Mrs. Yvonne Witt, Corriganville; Mrs. Rene Baker, Allandale, Va.; and Miss Vickie Werner, at home; a son, SSG Herbert J. Werner in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Norris, Mt. Savage, Md.; and Mrs. Helen Fabbri, Brazil, Ind.; and a brother, Kenneth Werner, Cresaptown, Md. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Savage. Burial in the parish cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, February 14, 1974 [W0931]
