Born Nov. 14, 1951, in Meyersdale, the son of Harry and Patricia Werner. Survived by his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Eryn (Justin) Lawson; parents; sister-in-law, Chris (Mike) Ostrow; nephew, Keith Bray; niece, Melissa Bray; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Salisbury-Elk Lick High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1970 and was a crew chief on B-52's and later KC- 135's. He earned the status of master crew chief and the rank of technical sergeant before ending his 11 1/2 years career with the Air Force at Mather AFB to join the fire department. Bob started his first day as a firefighter with the Rancho Cordova Fire Department (now Sacramento Metropolitan District) on March 1, 1982 and Was promoted to engineer on March 15, 1990. He was named Sac Metro's employee of the year in 2007. For most of his career he worked out of Fire Station 61 on Folsom Boulevard and was a lead instructor with the ROP Fire Control Program for the Sacramento County Office of Education. He was set to retire from the fire district in October. He was a founding member and chairman of the Firefighters Local 522 Honor Guard, secretary of the Mills One Club, active member of the Pioneer Mutual Hook and Ladder Society, involved in Christmas Promise, the Christmas Giving Tree Program and active PTA member at White Rock Elementary School. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Keith's name to St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, PA 15558.
