    Elsie Pearl (Shanks) Wertz, 74, died Dec. 18, 1983, in Burbank,
  Calif.  She was born in Somerset County, Sept. 11, 1909, the daughter
  of John and Edna (Mickey) Shanks.  Moved to California in 1950. 
  Preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wertz Sr. in 1957; and
  two sisters.  Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Robert,
  Wilmington, Del.; LaVerne Milnes, Pittsburgh; William H. Wertz Jr.;
  Glennis McConahy, and Donald, all of the Los Angeles area; and a
  brother, Clifford Shanks of Newton Falls, Ohio.  There are nine
  grandchildren.  Private arrangements in California.
