Wetzel, 65, of Shanksville died March 5, 1976, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1910, in Marion Center, a son of H.H. and Alice (Beatty) Wetzel. Preceded in death by parents and one brother, Robert. Survived by widow, the former Hope Stanley; and the following children: H. Fred, Berryville, Va.; James, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Don (Jane Ann) Bungard, Acton, Mass.; Mrs. David (Karen) James, Oxon Hill, Md.; five grandchildren. Brother of: Howard, Marion Center; Clair, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Chester (Edna) Kirkland, Glymer RD; Mrs. Ben (Ruth) Lightcap, Home, Pa.; Mrs. Fred (Jean) Rising, Trafford. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, Shanksville Volunteer Fire Co., Gold and Silver Club, Stoystown Lions Club, National and State Retired Teachers' Associations. Retired vocational-agricultural teacher, having taught at Green Township, Mercer, Armagh and Shanksville-Stonycreek high schools. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Charles R. Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Body will be removed to Shanksville United Methodist Church to lie in state on Monday from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., the Rev. Marlin A. Miller officiating.
