"Whitey" Adolph G. "Whitey" Weyand Jr., 79, Somerset, died Jan. 18, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1928, in Somerset, the son of the late Adolph G. and Emily (Cook) Weyand. Survived by wife, Doris (Wilt) Weyand; children, David Weyand, and wife, Shelby, New Centerville; Mrs. Scott (Lori) Silvasy, Ashburn, Va.; Barry Weyand, Oakalla, Texas; and Terry Weyand, Houston, Texas; stepchildren, Teresa Weigle, Friedens; Andrew Miller, Berlin; and Anthony Miller, Jenners; seven grandchildren, including, Andrew Weyand, Michael, Zachary and Abigail Silvasy; 11 stepgrandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. Brother of William Weyand, Camp Hill; Peggy Jackson, Fayetteville, N.C.; and Sylvia\ Horner, Illinois; and mother-in-law, Gladys Wilt, Stoystown. Attended Mount Union Church. He was a 1946graduate of Somerset High School. Owned and operated Upholstery Unlimited for 40 years. Founder of Restoration Specialist and Supply, Windber. Local distributor for the Auto Trader. Owned and operated Whitey's Place and also worked for Home Depot. He was an army veteran of World War II. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Terry Reese and the Rev. Joe Gray officiating. Interment in Husband Cemetery will be private.
