Weyand, Sr., 84, Elizabethtown, formerly of Somerset, died June 4, 1979, in the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown. Born March 24, 1895, in Jefferson Township, he was a son of Irvin and Sarah (Youler) Weyand. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Emily Cook, April 26, 1979 He is survived by these children: Peggy, wife of Preston D. Jackson, Fayetteville, N.C.; William F., Camp Hill; Adolf G. Jr., Rockwood RD 3; Sylvia, wife of Charles Horner, Somerset RD 3; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. He was the youngest of nine boys. He is also survived by two brothers: Charles, Sheridan, Wyo.; Joe, Seamon, Ohio. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset; Somerset Lodge 358 F.& A.M.; New Castle Consistory; Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. He was a veteran of World War I and regimental supply sargeant [sic] of the 327th Infantry; past commander of Somerset Post 554 VFW; past commander of American Legion Post 181. He owned and operated Adolph's 5 and 10 cent store from 1927-30; was salesman for Butler Bros., Baltimore, Md., for 25 years; clerk in the former J. W. Phillips Store, and retired clerk of Penn Furniture Co. Friends were received at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services were conducted with the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.
