Wheeler, 96, Somerset, died Nov. 3, 2006, at home. Born March 10, 1910, in Cumberland, Md., the son of Walter and Margaret (Kimes) Wheeler. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Evelyn Irene Day, who died Aug. 6, 1977, and sister, Retta Robey. Beloved father of Mrs. Fred J. (Patricia A.) Bissert, Pittsburgh; grandchildren: David V. Forgey and wife Joann, Pittsburgh, Mrs. Jeffrey A. (Deborah A. ) Locke, Bainbridge, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Rebecca Locke, Bainbridge, Ga.; step grand-children, Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Matthew, Chris Bissert, Mrs. Tom (Susie) Fischer, David Bissert and wife, Kim, Tim Bissert and wife, Lori; step great-grand-children, Johnathan and Jason Matthew, Kathryn and Kelsie Bissert and Peter and Matthew Bissert; and niece, Mrs. James (Peggy) Collie, Hancock, Md. Worked as an electrical engineer for the B&O and C&O railroads, retiring in 1972 from Huntington, W.Va. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and moved to Somerset in 1972 to pursue those hobbies, becoming a member of numerous hunting and fishing clubs. Member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees and was chairman of St. John's Cemetery until recent years. Volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Somerset Food Bank for more than 20 years. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Patricia M. Nelson officiating. Interment, St. John's Cemetery.
