Born Oct. 16, 1936, in Indian Head. Son of Vernon Elwood and Armitta Beatrice (Nedrow) Whipkey. Preceded in death by parents and sisters, Edith Jean Whipkey, Jo Ellison Flick and Fay Catherine Beener. Survived by wife, the former Gloria J. (Krupper) Thomas and these children Susan M., wife of Douglas Spangler, Stoystown; John D., married to the former Marcia Friedline, Boswell; and stepson Robert B. Thomas, Jenners. Grandchildren: Jesse and Brent Spangler, and Benjamin, Jacob, and Anna Whipkey. Great-grandchildren: Tyler and Levi Whipkey and Catherine Spangler. Also sisters Delores, wife of William Meyers, St. Paris, Ohio; Carol Lane and spouse Charles Stern, Somerset; and Jennie Friedline, Johnstown. Brothers: William N., married to the former Gabriel Wirtz, Eugene L. married to the former Dianna Miller, Somerset and Mark A., married to the former Anita Faulhaber, S.C. Buck was employed through Rolling Rock Farms and Club for 42 years, between 1952 through April of 1994 in Ligonier. He worked 20 years at the farms and then 22 years as the Department Head of the Landscape Department at Rolling Rock Club. He was also a fine carpenter who built one of his own homes. At Bucks requests there will be no viewing or visitation, a memorial service will be held at a later date, burial at Beams Cemetery, Gray. Memorials may be directed to Mrs. Vernon D. Whipkey, P.O.
