Whitehill Jr. M.D. of Lewistown RD 4, passed away suddenly at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 22, 1975 at Lewistown Hospital. He was 55-years-old, born in Pittsburgh March 15, 1920, a son of Hazel Nuzum Whitehill of Pompono Beach, Fla. and the late John F. Whitehill. Married in 1951 to the former Marion W. Walls, who survives him along with the following children: Mrs. Stephen (Joan) Williams of Richardson, Texas; Mrs. Armando (Judy) Avariano of North Miami, Fla.; Jean E. Whitehill, a student at the University of Pittsburgh; and Jane A. and Jan E. Whitehill, both at home. Also by a brother, Charles Robert Whitehill of Open Hearth Manor, Lewistown. Dr. Whitehill received his B.S. degree in chemistry and general medicine from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and was in family practice in Salisbury from 1951 to 1956. He served his residency at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, from 1956 to 1960 in Orthopedic Surgery and was in practice in Lewistown as an orthopedic surgeon since 1960. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown; Senior Active Staff, Lewistown Hospital and the Courtesy Staff of the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He served with the U.S. Army Medical-Surgical Unit in World War II. He was past president of the Mifflin - Juninta Medical Society; member of the American and Pennsylvania Medical Societies; [ * ] Somerset American, September 23, 1975 [W1117] [*] missing the end of obituary.
