  WHITFIELD
  
    Frances M. (Adams) Whitfield, 96, of Bethlen Home, Ligonier,
  formerly of Jennerstown, died Jan. 7, 2001, at the home.  Born Jan.
  7, 1905, in Clearfield County, daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth
  (Brown) Adams.  Preceded in death by parents, husband Walter W. "Doc"
  on Dec. 30, 1987, and daughter, Elnora Clifton.  Survived by
  daughters, Lorraine, married to Charles Glessner, of Jennerstown, and
  Betty Kupfner of Colorado Springs, Colo., stepdaughter, Lucille Becony
  of Boswell, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  Member of
  First Lutheran Church, Johnstown.  Her favorite pastime was
  crocheting.  Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman
  Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where service will be held at
  2 p.m. Tuesday.  The Rev. Flo Wood officiating.  Interment, Somerset
  County Memorial Park.
