ELIZABETH MAE WHITFORD

  Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Shumaker) Whitford, wife of James R. Whitford, died 
recently of a heart ailment at her home in Hyndman.  She was a daughter of the 
late Irvin and Theresa Shumaker of Meyersdale, where she was born and spent her 
early life.
  Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, James R. and Donald G., of 
Hyndman, and one daughter, Marion Elizabeth, at home.  Also surviving are one 
granddaughter, two brothers, Harry Shumaker of Pittsburgh and Rutherford 
Shumaker of Meyersdale, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Proudfit of Baltimore.
  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wendell Allen, pastor of the Hyndman 
Methodist Church.  Interment was made in the Hyndman Cemetery under the 
direction of the Zeigler Funeral Home.
