Jack Whitford, 82, of Meyersdale, went to be with the Lord and join his soul mate, Lois, on July 27, 2003. Born July 21, 1921 in Glade City. Jack was the youngest offspring of Richard H. and Minnie (Morcom) Whitford. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, four months, Lois (Brocht) Whitford, his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brocht and the following brothers and sisters, James Whitford, William Whitford, Nelle Collins and Ruth Horning. Survived by his daughter Jeannie Whitford, of Meyersdale, his faithful dog Rascal, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was employed as a mechanic by Carl Miller and Bud Greer before opening Jack Whitford Garage on Market Street in Meyersdale. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the DAV, American Legion Post 112, VFW Post 3504 and the Humane Society. Jack served during World War II in the 28th Infantry, 8th Division in the European Theatre of Operations, where he earned a bronze star. A devoted husband and father, Jack also enjoyed reading, gardening, yard work, driving and, his many dogs. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Eric Shaulis and Rev.
