Wiland, 39, of Lonaconing RD 1, Maryland, died suddenly Saturday, March 2, 1985, at his home. Born in Frostburg, Maryland, he was a son of Mrs. Ora (Garlitz) Wiland, with whom he resided, and the late Wilfred E. Wiland. He was formerly employed as a carpenter with the Davis Construction Company of Rockville. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church; Carpenters Local 132, Washington, D.C.; Salisbury, Post 8826, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Earl H. Opel Post, American Legion, Salisbury. Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Marlin Wiland and Walter Wiland, both of Lonaconing; Sylvan Wiland, Grantsville, Maryland; two sisters, Mrs. Judy Broadwater, Frostburg, Maryland; Mrs. Mary Stark, Lonaconing. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at the old St. Ann's Catholic Church, by Father Gerald LaPorta. Interment, parish cemetery. Military honors were accorded by Salisbury VFW Post 8826. Pallbearers were Eddie Weimer, Gary Lawson, Tim Mazer, Ronald Hetz, Gerald Miller and Ralph McKenzie. The Republic, March 7, 1985 [W1161]
