Wiland, 75, of Republic (Fayette County) died Oct. 8, 1973, at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 20, 1897, in Meyersdale, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Wiland. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Frank; and sister, Margaret. Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Duggan, and five children, Robert and Homer, of Warren, Ohio; Mrs. Tony (Mae) Tadj of Cleveland, Ohio; James of Republic; and Mrs. Thomas Arlene) Duda, of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hugh (Catherine) Houston, Gettysburg; and a foster sister, Mrs. Theodore (Mildred) Baer, Meyersdale. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Charles E. Kelly Post 112, Meyersdale, for 48 years, and was a member of the first Kelly Drum and Bugle Corps in 1928. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Republic. Funeral service was held Oct. 11 in the Carlo J. Marucci Funearal [sic] Home in Republic, with Rev. Roger V. Mize officiating.
