"Chuck" Charles S. "Chuck" Wilcox,86, Markleton, passed on Nov. 29, 2007, at Somerset Hospital. Born May 9, 1921, in Pittsburgh, he is the son of the late Lemuel H. and Hanna Jane (Smith) Wilcox. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Lemuel Wilcox Jr. He is survived by his wife Of 62 years, Anna "Dolly" (Gimpel) Wilcox; daughters, Janet "Ruff" Wilcox, Rockwood; and Barbara Downs and husband, Wayne, New Stanton; son, Charles "Dutch" Wilcox Jr., Markleton; grandchildren, Sarah O'Hern, Holly Nelson, Mathew Wilcox Downs, and Emily Downs; great- grandchildren, Benjamin Nelson, Anna Nelson, and Cole O'Hern; sister, Tillie Moncrief, Lancaster; and brother, Nathaniel Wilcox, Sewickley. Mr. Wilcox was a retired dairy farmer in Upper Turkeyfoot Township and the longtime owner/operator of Middlecreek Golf Course, which he helped establish in 1962 and became sole owner of in 1986. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the Rockwood Rotary Club, the Kingwood Grange, the Meyersdale Fraternal Order of Elks, the American Legion Post 946 in Ursina, Lodge No. 358 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Somerset, and the Kingwood International Order of Odd Fellows. He attended the Kingwood Church of God. He was a member of the Somerset County Farmer's Association (Pa. Farm Bureau) on who's board of directors he served for eight years. He also served on the board of directors of the Somerset Hospital, Somerset State Hospital, and the Easter Seals Society. He was a past member of the Rockwood and Upper Turkeyfoot Township school boards. Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. Visitation two hours prior to service, which will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kingwood Church of God, the Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment at Kingwood IOOF Cemetery with full military rights accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingwood Church of God Building Fund at 119 Humbert Road, Markleton, PA 15551. Daily American, November 30, 2007
