WILHELM Funeral services for Cpl. Joseph Sullivan Wilhelm, who was killed on July 3, 1944, in La Hayes DuPuits, France, will be held at the Konhaus Funeral Home, Meyersdale, at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, May 22. Rev. J. A. Joyce, pastor of the local Christian Church, of which he was a member, will officiate. The body will arrive at the Konhaus Funeral Home, Thursday and will remain there until after the service Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by Charles E. Kelly Post 114, American Legion, and John C. Tressler Post 3504, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cpl. Wilhelm was born in Meyersdale, Nov. 6, 1916, a son of Frank Wilhelm and the late Annie (Swindell) Wilhelm. He was aged 27 years, 7 months and 24 days at the time of his death. In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Jerry Dale, and his former wife, Mrs. J. R. Harris, Havre de Grace, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Harold Gibson, Meyersdale, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Swindell, also of Meyersdale. He was inducted into the Army May 29, 1942, at New Cumberland, Pa., and trained in this country until the spring of 1944, arriving in England, April 6 of that year. He was a mortar gunner in Co. D, 314th Inf., and landed in France with the initial invasion forces, the 79th division. Meyersdale Republican, May 20, 1948
