"Sandy" Wilkins Sr., 53, Briarwood Estates, Somerset, died Nov. 19, 1982, at Lee Hospital, Johnstown. Born Dec. 3, 1928, in Johnstown, a son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Krentz) Wilkins. Preceded in death by brothers, Pershing, Rodger, Herbert, and a sister, Elverta. Survived by his wife, the former Joyce Rummel Mapes; one son, Wayne F. Jr., Middletown; one daughter, Michelle Wilkins, Clearwater, Fla.; three stepdaughters: Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Reese, Nokesville, Va.; Mrs. Emelia Floyd, Ballton Lake, N.Y.; Jacquelyn Adelman, Charlotte, N.C.; three stepsons: Barry Mapes, Jacob Adelman, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Jeffrey Adelman, Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren; and one brother, Richard W. Wilkins, Johnstown. Member of United Methodist Church. Employed by Bethelehm Steel Corp. in the environmental water treatment plant. Veteran of Korean War, U.S. Army Signal Corps, and served three tours of duty in Vietnam, retiring with 24 years of service. Member of Somerset American Legion. Friends will be received from 12-9 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Douglass officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside. Daily American, November 20, 1982 [W1235]
