Williams, 100, of Confluence, died Aug. 23, 2002, at Katie Miller's Personal Care Home, Confluence. She was born April 10, 1902, in Addison Twp., a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma (Heinbaugh) Coughenour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, brothers Harvey, Roy, Melvin and Floyd and sisters Ida, Minnie and Irene. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was a devoted lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Confluence, where she also served as church organist for many years. She was a meber of Somerset Chapter 138 O.E.S., Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and the Tuesday Quilters of Addison. She was a 1920 graduate of Confluence High School and a graduate of today's California University of Pennsylvania. She taught for many years in the Turkeyfoot Valley School District at Addison, Dumas and Confluence. She rode a horse to her first teaching job in Addison where she taught all eight grades, carried water, tended the fire and cleaned the schoolhouse daily. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ardelle Mason officiating.
