Wilson, 82, of Central City, died Sept. 12, 1999, at home. Born Nov. 5, 1916, in Windber, son of Robert and Mary Jane (Galvin) Wilson. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, H. Leroy, Gilbert "Gib," and Robert "Glenn;" sisters-in-law Victoria, Lois, Hilda and Nellie; and brothers-in-law Patsy and Joseph Magnone and Joseph Nagy. Survived by wife of 48 years, the former Clara Magnone; sons Edward, married to the former Sherry Russian, Pittsburgh, and Patrick, married to the former Patrice Schmucker, Frederick, Md.; daughter Teresa, married to David Mrozowski Johnstown, grandchildren Melissa, Justin, Jordan, Kara, Brittany, Lucas and Camryn. Also survived by brother Daniel, Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law Caroline Magnone; brothers-and sisters-in-law Caroline and Joseph Nosel, Clara Magnone, Elizabeth Nagy, and Pete and Elaine Sobeck; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1935 graduate of Shade High School. Attended Penn State University. Former owner and operator of Wilson's Dairy Store in Central City. Special county detective and indictment clerk in the office of the Somerset County District Attorney. Elected Somerset County Clerk of Courts for two terms, serving as District Magistrate in the 16th Judicial District and Mayor of Central City from 1994 to 1997. A World War II veteran, serving with the 131st Army Battalion. Active in veteran's affairs, both in American Legion Post 449 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7457. Commander of VFW Post 7457, Somerset County VFW Commander and VFW District 23 Commander. Member of the Shade Lions Club, Central City Chamber of Commerce, having been elected as Man of the Year in 1998, Central City Fire Co., Central City Water Authority, Shade-Central City Historical Society and Heritage Days. Lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, member of the Parish Council and Home Name Society. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday. Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary at 6 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday at Sacred Heart, Rev. Charles F. Bodziak, principal celebrant. Committal, parish cemetery. Graveside military rites by Central VFW and American Legion posts. Family and friends may make memorial contributions to the Shade-Central City Historical Society, 706 Poplar Street, Central City, 15926; or Our Lady's Burse of Sacred Heart in Melvin's memory.
