Wilt, 77, Grantsville RD 2, Md., died Wednesday, January 15, 1986, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born June 6, 1908, in Bond, he was the son of the late Jesse Wilt and Rachael (Platter) Wilt. A member of the Church of the Brethren, he was a retired construction worker and was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local 616. He also worked as a farmer and coal miner at various times. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah A. (Wilt) Wilt; one son, Russell Wilt, of Grantsville; eight daughters: Mrs. Slyvia Platter, Mrs. Golda Wilburn, Mrs. Bertha Handwerk and Mrs. Dolly Fazenbaker, all of Grantsville; Mrs. Pearl Robertson, Novelty, Ohio; Mrs. Leora Bittinger, Accident, Md.; Mrs. Elemeda Kitzmiller, Fairfax, Va.; Mrs. Peggy Wilburn, Salisbury; two brothers: Dewey Wilt, Meyersdale; James Wilt, Swanton, Md.; two sisters: Mrs. Velma Bittinger, of Grantsville; Mrs. Hulda Shaffer, Meyersdale; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Connell Chaney. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery. The Republic, January 23, 1986 [W1497]
