Wilt, 88, Stoystown RD 3, died Dec. 20, 1989, at Meyersdale Hospital. Born Oct. 17, 1901, in Quemahoning Township, son of Rev. Martin L. and Blanche (Goodrich) Wilt. Preceded in death by parents; son, Raymond; brothers, Forrest, Alton and John, and sisters, Ruth and Bertha. Survived by wife of 63 years, the former Gladys Custer, and these children: Mrs. Loren (Doris) Peoples, Berlin RD 1; Joe J., married to the former Ila Gay Miller, Stoystown RD 3, and Capt. Russell Gibbs, married to the former Johanna Englebart, Louisville, Ky.; also 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Ida Wilt and Kitty Wilt, both of Altoona. Formerly employed by Poorbaugh Lumber Company and PennDOT. Former Stonycreek Township tax collector. Member of Unity United Church of Christ and Somerset Coin Club. Eagle Scout. Fire warden for more than 65 years. Instrumental in founding the Somerset Historical Society. Family received friends Thursday evening, and will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Rev. David L. Meyer, Rev. Ed Fritz and Capt. Russell Gibbs Wilt officiating. Interment, Friedens Lutheran Cemetery.
