Winegard, 94, Laurel View Village, formerly of Moonlite Park Road, died Oct. 26, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 10, 1913, in Conemaugh Township Somerset County, daughter of Charles and Dora (Mangus) Spory. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Paul J. Wingard who died Jan, 24, 2002; grandson, Jared Wingard; and brother, Walter Spory. Survived by these children, Nova Jean, wife of Art Smoker, Mars Hill, N.C.; Cynthia J., married to Carroll Peterson, Pella, Iowa; and Paul J. Jr., married to the former Colleen Martin, Elmira, N.Y.; also survived by grand-children, Chad Smoker and wife, Britt Kaufmann; Erika, married to Edgar Silva; Kirsten and Karrie Peterson; and Shane Wingard; great-grand- children, Drew, Maxwell and Vaughn Smoker. Sister of A.J. and wife, Jean Spory, Boswell. Member of Thomas Mennonite Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, delegate, and a Bible school superintendent for many years. She started teaching Bible School at age 13 and volunteered in many churches even away from home such as in Maryland and Michigan. She also taught Bible School and Sunday School at Headrick Mennonite Mission. She helped organize and manage the World's Attic in its opening year. Carrie taught the elementary grade level at the Conemaugh Township Area School for 34 years. She was a volunteer with 11 years service at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, and also volunteered at Spruce Forest 100-year-old School House. She was a member of Laurel View Village Auxiliary, and Conemaugh Township Historical Society. Family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc. and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at Thomas Mennonite Church. The Rev. D. Wayne Lasure and the Rev. Wes Yoder officiating. Internment Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.
