WINKLER Viola Mary Winkler, 80, of Railroad Street, Barton, Md., died Monday, Oct. 24, 1988, at her residence. She was born in Bond, Md., on April 11, 1908, a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Elizabeth (Livengood) Swauger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thomas Winkler, in 1961. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Barton, Md. Surviving are four sons: Charles Winkler, Frostburg, Md.; Leo Winkler, Gaithersburg, Md.; Earl Winkler, Frostburg, Md.; and George Winkler, Delaware; a daughter, Mrs. Angela Ritchie, Frederick, Md.; a half-brother, Lee Swauger, Springs; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Boal-Warnick Memorial Chapel in Barton Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Thursday at 10 a.m. by Father Paul Byrnes. Interment will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Barton, Md. The Republic, October 27, 1988 [W1535]
