He was born in New Castle, son of the late John and Wilhemina (Rausmann) Winter. He was a general secretary for the YMCA. He was also a camp director at Camp Soles, Rockwood. He served in U.S. Army during World War II. Member of First United Presbyterian Church in Newville. He was a lifetime member of the Associated Professional Directors of the YMCA. He was a graduate of Genova College, Beaver Falls. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Anderson) Winter; a daughter, Margaret E. Winter of Newburg; two sons, William H. and Randy P., both of Newville; three sisters, Katherine Cameron of New Castle; Dorothy Houk of Orange, Calif.; and Ann Eckert of Boca Raton, Fla.; and three stepgrandchildren. Services and burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shamokin, Pa. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Newville. Arrangements by Egger Funeral Home, Newville. Daily American, January 10, 1989 [W1545]
