Winters, 62, of 246 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, died July 23, 1972, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been a patient for 12 days. Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late George H. and Mazie (Gray) Winters. He was pastor of Vandergrift United Church of Christ and a few years ago was supply pastor for several months at Amity-Wilhelm United Church of Christ, Meyersdale. He was a graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland; Catawba College and Franklin and Marshall Seminary. He has served pastorates of the Hyndman-Wellersburg Charge, Butler, Mahanoy City, Trumbauersville and Roaring Spring, Pa., and Rochester, N.Y. He was a member of Ohr Lodge, AF&AM, Cumberland. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Temke) Winters; three sons, Lynn K., Cumberland; George E., Omaha, Nebr.; and William E. Winters, Blacksburg, Va.; a daughter Miss Jane G. Winters, State College; six grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene, Greensboro, N.C.; and William E. Winters, Cumberland; and a sister, Mrs. Wayne George, Cumberland. Funeral service was conducted Wednesday afternoon in Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman. Interment in Madley Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, July 27, 1972 [W1553]
