Winters, aged 62, expired suddenly of a heart attack a few minutes after 9 o'clock Tuesday morning in his apartment at the Grand Hotel, Somerset, conducted by his aged mother. Mr. Winters engaged in the hotel business in Somerset for many years, first as proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, and later as proprietor of the Hotel Vannear. Upon retiring from the hotel business he operated a billiard and pool room in the basement of the Vannear Hotel until the building was partly destroyed by fire a few weeks ago. Jacob B. Winters was a son of the late Sheriff and Mrs. John Winters and was born in Somerset Township. Surviving are his only daughter, Mrs. Marie Winters Little, of Berkley, Cal., his aged mother, Mrs. Jane Winters, two brothers, James L. Winters, of Somerset Township, and Robert Winters, well-known Somerset electrician; two sisters, Miss Margaret Winters, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Ernest Koontz, of Halifax, Nova Scotia. A dispatch received early Tuesday evening from Berkley, Cal., announcing that Mrs. Little is down with illness and would be unable to come on for the funeral. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. F. Messenger, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial was in Husband Cemetery in charge of Undertaker Charles R. Hauger.
