"Jack" or Tiny Jr., 72, Commonweath Road, Jenner Township, died March 27, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Sept. 11, 1930 in Johnstown, son of John A. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Glessner) Winters. Preceded in death by parents, and infant granddaughter Janie Louise Brown. Survived by wife of 52 years, the former Gloria R. Begley, daughters Sherry Shaffer, Jenner Township; and Ginny, wife of Glen Brown, of Edie, grandson Robert Shaffer, married to Jodi Charlton, Stoystown; special great-granddaughter Megan and brother Robert married to Betty Williams, Rector. A 1948 graduate of the former Boswell High School, U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War. Member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Pheasants Forever and Jenner Community Sportsmen, where he formerly served as president and vice president. Instructor for the Pa. Game Commission, hunter safety program. Former Jenner Township tax collector for 16 years. Retired employee of Rolling Rock Hunting Club in Ligonier. Avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, the Rev. Wilma G. Horner officiating. Interment, Hopewell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the window fund, Hopewell United Methodist Church, Woodstown Road, Hollsopple, Pa. 15935.
