Winters, 99, West Race Street, Somerset, died Sept. 15, 1995, in Somerset Hospital. Born Nov. 12, 1895, in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, daughter of the late Charles Christian and May Bell (Murray) Scmucker [sic]. Preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, one grandson, Edward C. Brougher; husband, Melvin C. "Pat" Winters Sr.; son, Melvin C. "Pat" Winters Jr.; daughter, Betty Gaydos. Survived by daughter, Jacqueline, wife of Edward "Bud" Brougher, Jennerstown; daughter-in-law, Catherine Winters, Somerset, and son-in-law, Steve M. Gaydos, Somerset; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, John "Jake" Schmucker, Jennerstown. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset; Trinity Chapter 138, OES, Somerset; Somerset Garden Club, and Bykota Bible Class. Received a Grand Cross of Colors from Order of Rainbow for Girls. Volunteer for 30 years at Somerset Hospital. Graduate of Indiana Normal School in 1914. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where Trinity Chapter 138 will conduct memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating. Interment, Husband Cemetery. No viewing at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Educational Scholarship Fund, OES.
