All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ _________________________________________ Winters, Wendell Wendell Winters, a well known Civil War veteran, died suddenly at his home in Listie at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, following a stroke of opoplexy (apoplexy). Mr. Williams, who was a retired farmer and miller, had been in poor health for about a year. The deceased was born in Lancaster 87 years ago and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Winters. Mrs. Winters, who before her marriage was Miss Mary Bowman of Jenner Township, died five years ago. Wendell Winters is survived by two children, William Winters of Friedens and Mrs. Jacob C. Dietz of Listie and a sister, Mrs. Julia Shafer of Stoyestown. Mr. Winters was a veteran of the Civil War having served with Company K, 5th regiment heavy artillery. The funeral will take place at Listie at 9 o'clock Friday morning. Meyersdale Commercial, June 29, 1916
