Melroy Marvin Wirick, 71, Somerset, died Aug. 6, 2001 at Siemon's Lakeview Manor Estate after a long illness. Born Feb. 4, 1930 in Central City, son of William I. and Hazel Grace (Miller) Wirick. Preceded in death by parents; first wife Gloria Mae (Bliss) Wirick, who died Nov. 6, 1986; and brother Donald Leroy Wirick. Survived by his wife, the former Alice Louise (Ellis) Powell-Wirick of Somerset; step-mother, Marian Dull Wirick of Scalp Level; children: Mrs. Mark (Jane L.) Naymick of Uniontown, Brian L. Wirick, married to the former Linda Miller of Uniontown, Ray A. Wirick, married to the former Cathlene Wingard of Rockwood, Mrs. Paul (Nancy A.) Stone of Uniontown, Mrs. James (Judy K.) Pumphrey of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Rodney (Susan L.) Madden of Front Royal, Va., David W. Wirick, married to the former Beth Duritsa of Uniontown; stepchildren: Mrs. Leslie G. (Linda Jane) Hawthorne of Forest, Va., Mrs. David (Mary Alice "Pixie") Emert of Somerset, Mrs. Mark (Deana L.) Erickson of Dubois, David D. Powell, married to the former Barbara Jo (Higgins) Bailey of Berlin, Mrs. Paul (Nancy K.) Emert of Friedens; 16 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Lambert Wirick-Bradshaw of El Dorado, Ark. A 1947 graduate of Shade High School. Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where he received a BS degree in 1951. Graduated M.S.T. United Seminary, Dayton, Ohio in 1954; M.Ed. University of Pittsburgh in 1957; Specialist certificate in school psychology from Indiana University in 1973 and received psychology license in 1979. Retired Methodist minister, pastoral appointments in New Castle 1954-56; Somerset First E.U.B. 1956-1962; Connellsville Albright United Methodist 1962-1966; voluntary location 1967; Coolspring-Lakemont Furnace 1971-1974; various temporary assignments including Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, Uniontown, until retirement in 1987. Served in the Somerset circuit United Methodist Church for 6 months in 1988 until pastor was appointed. Worked in the Frazier Schools in Fayette County prior to employment with I.U. 8 in 1970, retiring June 1, 1992 as a school psychologist. One of his accomplishments after retirement was compiling a Wirick family genealogy which goes back 16 generations covering 513 years from 1487-2000. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon Friday, at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, Uniontown, with Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Gotjen, Rev. Patricia Nelson and Rev. J.
