Witt, 68, of Wellersburg, died February 16, 1984 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland. He was born Feb. 26, 1915 in Wellersburg, the son of the late Noah Witt and Mary (Troutman) Witt. Preceded in death by an infant son, Cordell Trowfordin, Feb. 24, 1934. He was retired from the United Mine Workers of America, had been a miner for 27 years. He was also retired from the Laborers Union, Local 616, and was a member of the Barrelville, Maryland Outdoor Club and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his widow, Emma (Spiker) Witt; one son, Donald C. Witt, Mount Savage RD 1, Maryland; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Pape, Eckhart, Maryland, one brother, Myrle Witt, Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. Ken L. Korns. Interment was in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, Md. Pallbearers were Ronald Lepley, Carl Bittner, George W. Mosholder, Leroy Witt, Donald Witt and Alden Witt. The Republic, February 23, 1984 [W1615]
