Witt, 75, Grantsville, died Oct. 23, 1972, in Baker VA Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. A native of Allegany County, Md., he was a son of the late Benjamin and Julia (Davidson) Witt. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, and Old Rail VFW Post, Mt. Savage and Mt. Savage United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, George W. Witt Jr., Lineboro, Md.; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Paul, Mrs. Leota Jenkins, Grantsville; Mrs. Margaret Evans, Baltimore; and Mrs. Jeannine Beeman, Dayton Plains, Mich.; a stepson, David Gentry, Pattersons Creek, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Evans, Hagerstown, Md.; also 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Charles Witt and Mrs. Gertrude Robertson, Zihlman, Md.; Richard Witt, Eckhart, Md.; Joseph Witt, Wellersburg; Mrs. Alice Stewart, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Cecelia Schmacker, Baltimore. Funeral service will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock in Mt. Savage Methodist Church with Rev. Edward E. Heydt and Rev. Paul Lovejoy officiating.
