WITT, Helen Ruth

Helen Ruth Witt, 80, Somerset, died Nov. 6, 2006, at The Patriot, Somerset. Born 
April 28, 1926, in Berlin, the daughter of Charles Curtis and Annie Belle 
(Gindlesberger) Saylor. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Paul Henry Witt, 
who died June 30, 2005; and sister, Mary Saylor. Survived by children, Ms. Emma 
Witt, Germantown, Md.; James Witt and companion, Patricia Pritts, Fairhope; 
grandchildren, Mrs. Eric (Michelle) Palenik, Seattle, Wash.; Mark Witt and wife, 
Lisa, and Steve Witt and wife, Tonya, both of Somerset; great-grandchildren, 
Hunter and Dalton Witt and Jackson Witt. Sister of Mrs. Phyllis Cober, Somerset; 
Richard Saylor and wife, Lois, Berlin; John Saylor and wife, Vi, Windber; Carl 
Saylor and wife, Karol, Berlin; Mrs. Edward (Shirley) Reed, Berlin; and Robert 
Saylor and wife, Darlene, Youngtown, Ariz. A 1944 graduate of Berlin 
Brothersvalley High School, member of Grace United Methodist Church and OES 
Chapter 138. Worked in the candy department for J.J. Newberry, where she was 
known as the "Candy Lady," retiring in 1988 with 26 years of service. She also 
enjoyed sewing, cooking and crocheting. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be 
conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Eric Raygor officiating. Interment 
Husband Cemetery. Memorial contributions: Somerset Humane Society, P.O. Box 182, 
Somerset, PA 15501, or Grace United Methodist Church, 320 Felgar Road, Somerset, 
PA 15501. An Order of Eastern Star Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the 
funeral home.
