Witt, 75, died Tuesday, July 24, 1990 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD. Born Sept. 10, 1914 in Manheim, W. Va., he was the son of the late Noah B. and Lucy V. (Zetty) Witt. Two brothers also preceded him in death. He was retired in 1974 after working for 28 years at the Bolt and Forge Shop of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in Cumberland, MD. He was a member of Cook's Mills United Methodist Church, Hyndman RD 1. He is survived by his widow, Anna V. (Messenger) Witt; two sons, Noble C. Messenger, Albany N.Y., and Donald L. Messenger, Hyndman RD 1; two brothers, Paul W. Witt, Bardanc, W. Va.; Kraymer M. Witt, Charles Town, W. Va.; five sisters: Nina G. Kave, Shepherdstown, W. Va.; Susan V. Sauer, Mountain City, Tenn.; Jessie A. Long, Clarksburg, W. Va.; Bessie V. Wagner, Manheim; and Helen L. Cathell, Chesapeake, Va.; and six grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman, where services were conducted Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dennis A. Fetter. Interment, Cook's Mills Cemetery. The Republic, August 2, 1990 [W1633]
