Woy, 81, Allegheny Street, Boswell, died April 24, 2004, doing what he loved most, fishing, while at the breast of the Youghiogheny Dam, Confluence. Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, son of Earl E. Sr. and Anna M. (Deist) Woy. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 56 years, the former Dolores J. (Eisenlohr), Jan. 11, 2003; daughter, Marilynn J. Kaufman, Nov. 12, 2002 and brothers, Earl E. Jr. "Cupe," John and Jerry. Survived by daughter Cathy J. Woy, Jennerstown, grandchildren, James R. Kaufman, married to Cindy Stern, Brian K. Kaufman and Melissa, married to Chris Maust; great-grandchildren, Laura, Nicholas and Alexandra Morgan and Anthony and Brittany Maust; special "daughters," Sharon, married to Wayne Gerney and Ethel, married to Jan Reffner; brother, Pete, married to Lois Raley, Mannington, W.Va. and sisters, Sara Saulsbery, Haddon Heights, N.J., Norma Bowser, Sarasota, Fla., Ethel, wife of Mac Daniels, King of Prussia and Joyce, wife of Bill Laney, Idaho Falls, Idaho. A 1941 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boswell; the Rural Mail Carriers Association; Boswell Post 461 American Legion and the Boswell Prescription Center "Breakfast Club." Proud Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater as a sergeant with an amphibious tank division. Along with brother, "Cupe," and father, Earl, had operated the former Woy Motors, Boswell. Past Boswell mayor and former member of the Boswell Water Authority. Retired rural mail carrier on Boswell RD 1 with 23 years service. Also delivered Meals on Wheels. Formerly taught the "55 Alive" driving classes and was a Boy Scout leader in Boswell for many years. During his retirement years, enjoyed working for Andrea and Marsh Policcichio and spending time at Bruno's Barber Shop. His special passion was fishing, but he also loved hunting in God's great outdoors. Was featured in the Somerset Daily American last Friday after catching a 27-inch, 9.59-pound brown trout in the Youghiogheny River, stating it was the biggest trout that he had ever caught since starting to fish at the age of eight or nine. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Church, Larry C. Hoover officiating. Interment Beam Cemetery, near Gray.
