Wright, born in Garrett County, Md., May 23rd, 1855, died at his home in Salisbury, Pa., April 14, 1941. His death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage and arterial scierosis after suffering more than a year from the arterial trouble and an occasional heart attack. He was a son of John and Rebecca (Stout) Wright, well-known citizens of Salisbury for many years, where both of them died at great ages many years ago. His mother was a native of New Jersey. The parents located in Somerset County, Pa., when John M., their youngest son, was still very young, and where nearly all of his life was spent. However, when still a single man, he went to Iowa, where he had thought of locating, but about a year later he returned to Salisbury, and not long thereafter purchased the farm in Elk Lick Township of which his son, Harvey, is now the owner and occupant, between Salisbury and Boynton. Mr. Wright retired from farming and located in Salisbury within the last 15 years. His wife, Christina (Rembold) Wright, died in 1918. He is survived by two daughters and one son, namely, Mrs. Cynthia Newman of Boswell; Grace, wife of William M. Perry of Salisbury, and Harvey. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Ruhammah Hooe, of Oakland, California, now the only remaining member of a large family. Mr. Wright started his career as a laborer, but after became a farm owner, and one of the most prominent and well-known capitalists and money lenders in Somerset County. At various times he was a heavy stockholder in various lines of business, including bank stocks. His funeral was held at ten o'clock a.m., Thursday, at his home, where he also died. The service was conducted by his pastor, the Rev. A. M. Wright, of the local Evangelical and Reformed Church. Burial was in the Salisbury I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, local mortician. Meyersdale Republican, April 17, 1941
